On this final day to explore Expectations, let’s breathe into noticing the internal dialogue and unspoken Expectations that we have for our personal self.
What do you Expect from yourself? Do you Expect a certain level of success? Expect a specific income? Expect to keep a clean house? Expect to own and have special material possessions? Do you Expect a distinct type of image? The list can go on for a long time.
The personal Expectations we have for ourselves is quite the litany. Have you ever taken the time to list your personal Expectations? If not, then take the time today to do exactly that. Then look at that list, what Expectations serve you? Maybe going to the gym three times a week or more is an Expectation that serves you. However, Expecting yourself to always have a spotless house may not. What brings you joy? What Emotional experiences do you wish to expand in your life? How do your Expectations enhance or limit your expansion?
As you explore, give yourself the gift to determine where these Expectations come from. Are they taught Expectations, Societal, Cultural, Personal, etc..?
Decide for yourself what serves you or does not, then take action to release the Expectations which do not bring you more fulfillment or joy. The tapestry of your life is yours to weave…
